We haven’t posted about music, namely because we are not a music blog and also because we have only posted about 4 actual articles, but that is not the point.

The Staves are awarded this week’s coveted position of Girl Crush and about time too. Aside from their stellar musical credentials, these girls are extremely funny, down to earth and pretty cool dressers. Having seen them live 4 times in the past two years, I’m pretty much qualified to say that.

The Staves are an acoustic folk rock band made up of sisters, originally from Watford, They provided backing vocals for recent albums by Tom Jones and Fionn Regan, and legendary producers Glyn and Ethan Johns liked them so much that they both independently tracked them down and decided to share production duties on their 2012 debut album.

Their new song Tongue Behind Your Teeth is accompanied by a nifty Western-style video created by Hand Held Cine Club who have also created music videos for the likes of Maps and Atlases, Band of Skulls and the brilliantly named We Were Promised Jetpacks.

They can often be found touring little venues in America and England with the likes of Bon Iver , Ben Howard or Michael Kiwanuka. They have recently teamed up with Keaton Henson to create a beautiful cover of their own song Icarus.

Without turning this into a music review (we’ve already told you we don’t do that), we would just like to take this moment to say that they are amazing harmonists. They really are a fantastic band to see live, so you should definitely check out their Winter tour. We’ll be at the London show on November 19th, see you there?
