When you think of tiling you probably think of the generic white squares around your bath. Or perhaps, and even worse, the old-fashioned floral monstrosities in your Grandma’s kitchen  (although I wonder if these are so retro they’ve become cool again?). Either way, there’s so much more to tiling than protecting your walls from water. In fact, if my recent trip to Morocco with Sarah is anything to go by, tiles can be used on any surface from floors to walls and are a great, easy-to-maintain way to add a little colour and pattern to your home. But even if colour and pattern isn’t your thing, there are ways to make white tiles exciting. I promise.

Don’t believe me? Take a look.

Keep it modern with a monochrome take on Moroccan pattern.

A high-gloss finish is perfect for contrasting against other textures (like the earthenware
sink shown here) and allows you to have the ‘all white’ look without having
to worry about grubby walls.

Create visual impact with an intricate pattern repeated across a large surface.
But don’t forget to pair it with simple colours to avoid confusing the look.
