It's always nice to stumble upon somewhere that you immediately love. On a wet and windy day, our last day on our trip to Edinburgh, we came across a little place offering warm coffee and a place to keep dry. We didn't need any more than that to head inside and try it out.
Focusing mainly on the coffee (as all good coffee shops usually do), there were lots of options for coffee lovers. We went for a trusty latte, you can’t really go wrong with one of those guys. Food options weren’t huge but that didn’t put us off. We both opted for the 3 cheese toastie.
I really wish that I’d got a shot of what the actual toastie looked like, but take my word for it – it was tasty! A perfect treat on a miserable weather day. Literally overflowing with delicious cheese, in soft toasted bread, it was a winner. Being able to make a good toasted sandwich is an underrated skill I think.
My only gripe was the latte being served in a glass, I can’t be the only one who prefers mugs & cups? I think I have a mug fetish.
It was pretty quiet when we were there, benefit of going between breakfast and lunch time I suppose. It gave me the opportunity to take a few shots of the decor though.
Supposed ‘arty’ shot of Steve below some clocks (I think he was probably checking football scores at this point).
Knowing they would receive a lot of visits from tourists, iPads to provide entertainment (and free access to the internet) is a nice touch.
So there it is, an unexpected but delightful find on a drizzly day. Definitely check them out if you live in Edinburgh or are heading up there for a little break.
